The TaxDome portal is expected to be available in early to mid-March 2026. To align with Canadian privacy standards, TaxDome implements the following: Canadian Data Residency: TaxDome stores data for Canadian firms on AWS (Amazon Web Services) servers physically located within Canada. Bank-Level Encryption: All data is protected using 256-bit AES encryption (the same level used by major banks) at rest and SSL/TLS encryption for data in transit. By using the portal, your financial data stays behind a secure firewall. Secure Document Management: Features like "locking documents to invoices" and the secure client portal are designed to ensure that sensitive financial information (like T1s or T4s) is only accessible by authorized users. SOC 2 Certification: In addition to PIPEDA, TaxDome holds a SOC 2 Type II certification, which involves independent auditing of their security, availability, and confidentiality controls. Compliant e-Signatures: The platform supports electronic signatures for CRA forms (such as the T183), ensuring the digital signing process remains within the legal framework required for Canadian tax filings. The CRA typically processes digital returns in 8 business days after submission. Paper returns can take up to 8 weeks. Using Direct Deposit is the fastest way to receive your funds.

Personal Support Workers (PSW) Credit: A new refundable credit of 5% of eligible earnings (up to $1,100). Canada Disability Benefit: A new benefit for working-aged Canadians with disabilities (requires an approved Disability Tax Credit certificate). Digital News Subscription: Please note this credit has ended and is no longer available for the 2025 tax year.

TFSA: The 2026 limit is $7,000. RRSP: The 2025 limit (for the 2026 filing) is 18% of your 2024 earned income, up to a maximum of $32,490.

The CRA has shifted back to the "Detailed Method." You must have a signed T2200 form from your employer and keep receipts for utilities, internet, and maintenance. The "Flat Rate" ($2/day) method is no longer available.

Effective July 1, 2025, the lowest federal tax rate was reduced from 15% to 14%. Because this happened mid-year, the effective rate for the 2025 tax year is 14.5%. For 2026, it will be the full 14%. This can save individuals up to $420 annually.
