Career Path / About Us
Jonathan’s accounting career began in 2002 working with a Marketing Research firm as a data entry clerk. Once he had a taste of what accounting & finance had to offer, he was hooked, immediately enrolling in the CPA/CGA program. Over the following 6 years, he gained a tremendous amount of experience and quickly blossomed within the organization. His work was quickly recognized by leadership, offering him a roadmap to navigate through the accounting cycle. Jonathan had the opportunity to move up rapidly, starting with Accounts Payable, then moving on to Accounts Receivable, then Assistant Controller, and enhanced his path within the organization becoming Manager, Project Accounting.

Wanting to expand his career further, Jonathan decided to gain experience in another industry, and chose the non-for-profit sector. He gained valuable insights working closely with professional Architects and solidified his knowledge in financial reporting and presentation of data to a Board of Directors. He was also responsible for managing several grants received from the Government of Canada, as well as manage the charitable arm of the organization. As is the case with many small NPOs, Jonathan also donned several hats in addition to accounting, such as HR, Payroll, Sponsor Management related to the annual conference, and eventually leading the Syllabus Program as the Registrar. He stayed with the organization for 8 years and was eventually recognized by the Board for his hard work with an Honorary Membership in the organization.
In 2017, Jonathan started his own accounting firm dedicated to helping entrepreneurs with their accounting needs. Through his firm, he offers a wide variety of services from bookkeeping to CFO Advisory. Additionally, he provides tax preparation services to Canadian residents who require annual filing with CRA, including self-employed proprietors. Operating his own firm has allowed Jonathan to assist clients across a variety of industries including Architectural, Arts & Culture, Catering & Food Services, Construction, and Electrical.
